Is there an area of expertise you have that you could turn into a home based/web based income?

Perhaps the most obvious would be web design but there are plenty of other possibilities. If you have PC support skills you could offer your services to local businesses. If they have issues they can contact you and you can resolve them rather than having to contact a local shop or an expensive support provider.

Do you have a spare room in your home? Ever considered getting a lodger? In the UK if you own your own home and rent out a room there are tax breaks on the income you get from the rental.

Got a fast internet connection? Why not sell some of your wi-fi to your neighbours (best check your service agreement before you do this incase your provider could get upset if they found out).

If you are an expert in a particular field you could provide a home based consulting business. Maybe your expertise is in setting up and running small businesses, you could start by offering your services to fledgling companies in your locality and expand from there.

Maybe you are a frustrated bedroom dj. Or an accomplished amateur photographer.

Whatever it is, get promoting your services. Get yourself a website (if you can learn to do this yourself all the better). Do some flyering. Advertise in free ads papers and on local services websites. Get out there and sell yourself.
