How to do promotional work

Ever seen people dressed up in silly (or not so silly) outfits promoting a new product?

Sometimes at events, other times down the local shopping centre?

More often than not these people do not work for the company launching the product but a 3rd party promotional agency and are hired for promotional jobs as and when. The pay is good, because it is normally ad hoc work and if you are the person supervising the team then the pay is even better.

Whilst you don't need to be a model to do promotional work, Shrek look-a-likes would be best advised not to apply (unless the promotion is for Shrek 4!). You also need to be reasonably out going for promotional work, so if you're shy then give it a miss.

Ideal work to fit around other commitments, you can pick and chose the jobs that suit. Some jobs involve commission based pay whereas others are paid on a flat day rate. You could get free entry to sporting and other events, plus get paid for your time. Maybe that outfit doesn't look so silly after all...

Here are some agencies that our source recommended if you are looking for promotional work:

MHP Field Marketing
Blue Water
Zoo people

These types of agency often run mystery shopping campaigns as well.
